The Hills Around

This is a view of green Blackdown Hills with the Wellington memorial on the top right of the image. There are green trees and fields in the mid ground. There is also a loosely painted collection of buildings and Rockwell Green water tower. On the right of the image there are three tall poplar trees which are painted in ochre and in front of them a white building with a brown roof. In the foreground there are dark shadows from the trees.
Looking across to the Blackdown Hills and Wellington Monument from Langford Budville

Living on the Somerset-Devon border I am surrounded by hills in all directions. The rugged moorland scenery of Exmoor lies to the west, while to the east lies the wooded hills and valleys of the Blackdown Hills. What interests me most is the boundary between the wild moorland, often at my feet, and the hedgeows and farmland beyond. I am currently working on a series of oil paintings inspired by the uplands which surround me. As I explore and paint them during the winter I am rewarded with dramatic skyscapes with fleeting light illuminating the landscape. All the paintings on this page are available direct from my studio or from https://www.talentartgallery.co.uk/
